On 7th February 2014, Majilis Agama Islam Melaka (MAIM) officially launched the state’s Rimbunan Kaseh smart village. The purpose of the project is simple yet noble, which is to sustainably improve the livelihoods of the less fortunate through the provision of modern affordable houses and employment opportunities.

The launch ceremony was graced by Prime Minister, YAB’ Dato Seri Mohd Najib Razak and various notables including the Chief Minister of Malacca, Datuk Seri HJ. Idris Haron and Director-General of the Implementation Coordination Unit in the Prime Minister's Department, Tan Sri HJ. Shukry Mohd Salleh.

The PM said the Rimbunan Kaseh program embodies transformation. He then added that he has been very interested in and supportive of the Rimbunan Kaseh program because it is able to provide better quality of life to the poorer population in rural areas.

Taman Rimbunan Kaseh Serkam accommodates 100 families with homes, providing over 1,000 square feet of comfortable living space to each family. Families participating in this program are to work in the modern integrated farm where IRIS Autopot and Aquaponic systems are applied to produce several varieties of premium melons, vegetables and fish such as Jade Perch, Tilapia and Catfish.

IRIS has derived the winning formula in providing comfortable homes and sustainable jobs to the underprivileged with the Rimbunan Kaseh project. Up to 6 additional sites are scheduled for completion in both East and West Malaysia by the end of 2014, benefitting more underprivileged families and communities.
