On 26 December 2012, FELDA officially launched a self-sustaining modern agriculture community through Project Sentuhan Kasih at Tenggaroh 3 east coast of Johor. The aim of this project is to support the settler’s welfare and improve standards of living. IRIS is the main contractor for this FELDA project. In attendance were Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad, Chairman of FELDA, Datuk Faizoull, Ahmad Director General of FELDA, Anuar Manap, Dato’ Supardi, Executive Director of IRIS and various heads of local settlers.

FELDA’s chairman Tan Sri Mohd Isa Abdul Samad said the programmes would benefit the early settlers of Felda nationwide as well as their children. “We want the second generation to continue the Felda legacy which started about 50 years ago,” he said at the launch of Project Sentuhan Kasih Felda housing scheme, at Felda Tenggaroh 3.

FELDA is to build single storey bungalows with a build-up area of 1,000 sq ft and land size of 3,000 sq ft, priced between RM60,000 to RM80,000 each. These bungalows are specially tailored to the children of first-generation Felda settlers.

One of the important highlights behind this project is to encourage equal employment opportunities to all Malaysians from agro-based activities such as golden melon cultivation and fish breeding using highly efficient technology methods and IRIS sustainable integrated farming.

The Sentuhan Kasih project is mainly about compassion, innovation and creativity to build a profitable yet sustainable agro enterprise. IRIS is supporting FELDA to make Malaysia’s agro and food sector a competitive entity and significantly contribute to the growth of the economy.
